The Sisters and the Mexican Revolutions / Las hermanas y las revoluciones mexicanas

To mark the 100th anniversary of the Cristero Rebellion (La Cristiada) in 1926, we share these sources in order to provide wider access to such evidence that is held in women religious archives.

The selected sources presented here from the CCVI Archives present evidence of:

• the connections of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word (San Antonio) to the Mexican Revolution (1910-1920) and the Cristero Rebellion (La Cristiada) (1926-1929 and 1932-1941);

• the exiled Mexican Clergy and their stay at the Brackenridge Villa guest house for clergy;

• and, the social and religious exchanges, and relationship in general at times of religious persecution in Mexico and San Antonio.

Para conmemorar el centenario de la Rebelión Cristera (La Cristiada) en 1926, compartimos estas fuentes con el fin de proporcionar un acceso más amplio a las pruebas que se conservan en los archivos religiosos femeninos.

Las fuentes presentadas aquí, procedentes de los Archivos CCVI, aportan pruebas de:

• las conexiones de las Hermanas de la Caridad del Verbo Encarnado (San Antonio) con la Revolución Mexicana (1910-1920) y la Rebelión Cristera (La Cristiada) (1926-1929 y 1932-1941);

• el clero mexicano exiliado y su estancia en la casa de huéspedes para clérigos Brackenridge Villa;

• y los intercambios sociales y religiosos, y las relaciones en general en tiempos de persecución religiosa en México y San Antonio.
